The 5VT2518 is an integrated optical modem and switching SoC designed for cost-effective home gateways. It features a multi-core processor and supports GPON and EPON fiber access, along with Layer 2 switching and Layer 3/4 hardware NAT/NAPT acceleration. With four Gigabit Ethernet ports, DDR3/DDR4 memory support, and PCIe connectivity for optional Wi-Fi modules, it combines modem and gateway functions in a single chip. The device handles VLAN, PPPoE, IP, TCP/UDP, and multicast traffic efficiently, supporting up to 4,000 VLANs and multiple QoS policies. Its GPON and EPON engines include encryption, FEC, and advanced protocol analysis, while hardware packet forwarding accelerates IPv4/IPv6, IPoE, DS-Lite, and VxLAN traffic. Additional interfaces include USB 2.0/3.0, TDM, UART, SPI, MDIO, and RGMII, making it versatile for networking applications that require high-performance, low-latency, and reliable fiber access and routing.
